Course Overview

You will learn how to use the tools of the trade, how to work safely and make sure others are safe at the same time. This introductory course will help you to learn about these skills as well as the principles of building, block laying and how to do it. You will also learn about cavity walls and how to build them, learn the theory of mortar making and an introduction to drawing specifications, alongside understanding the day to day skills of a bricklayer.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 2 or above (including maths and English Language).

What you will Learn

The Level 1 Bricklaying qualification has been developed for delivery in college; this means that you do not need to be employed to study this qualification. The course is designed to give basic knowledge and practical experience in brickwork.

Assessment

You will be assessed on your practical ability to national standards and your theoretical knowledge will be tested by both paper and online exams.

Progression

Upon successful completion of the qualification you will be able to apply for the Level 2 in Bricklaying. The course has been designed to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding so that you can work as a Construction Operative in the construction industry or progress to further training.
