Our Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques is a substantial vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as a employed and/or self-employed beautician/beauty specialist.

This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading professional bodies (The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) and the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a junior beautician/beauty specialist.

This qualification’s structure provides learners with the flexibility to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills depending upon their designated career pathway as a junior beautician/beauty specialist.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 3 or above (including maths and/or English Language).

What you will Learn

You will have your beauty therapy skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior beautician/beauty specialist including:
– Removing hair using waxing techniques
– Applying make-up
– Eyelash and eyebrow treatments
– Manicure and Pedicure
– Facial skincare
– Client care, health and safety and fulfilling salon reception duties

Assessment

As part of this qualification you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format. Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:

Observed work
Witness statements
Audio-visual media
Evidence of prior learning or attainment
Written questions
Oral questions
Assignments
Case studies

After completion of this course you can go onto study the following:

– Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy
– Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing
– Level 2 Diploma in Barbering
– Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-Up Studies

Career opportunities exist in a variety of contexts as a junior beautician including:
– Commercial beauty salons
