Course Overview

The BA (Hons) Childhood Studies Degree (top up) is aimed at those who already hold a level 5 qualification in a relevant field. It is aimed as a progression route for students who have completed the Foundation Degree Early Years Practice or the Foundation Degree Working with Children and Young People.

Course Requirements

Whilst applications are considered on an individual basis, offers are usually based on a requirement to have:

A Foundation Degree or a Level 5 qualification in a relevant subject.

What you will Learn

A range of themes are covered and delivered by highly experienced tutors. These modules allow for much more independent thought which enables students to closely connect the modules to practice or their future career choices. A range of subjects are included such as: global childhood, issues in the sector, pedagogy, crime and multi-agency working.

Assessment

A range of assessment methods are used including reports, essays, and portfolios. Each module comprises assessments that have been carefully designed to support and develop skills in independent thinking and learning.

Progression

Many students progress to further professional qualifications to pursue careers in teaching (Primary, Secondary, or Further Education in Colleges) or social work
