Course Overview

Level 1 Painting and Decorating is designed for those with an interest in the construction industry who are looking to gain specialist skills in painting and decorating. This course will enable you to acquire skills in decorating whilst seeking employment as a painter and decorator. This course provides an excellent opportunity to obtain a sound base in basic skills and knowledge of painting and decorating.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 2 or above (including maths and English Language).

What you will Learn

You will learn the importance of preparing surfaces for decoration, brush and roller painting, how to apply standard papers to walls, decorative techniques and how to apply paint. You can look forward to hands-on work experience as well as a visit to the National Painting & Decorating Show.
Your study programme will include English and maths at an appropriate level and it will support the development of skills towards employability and suitability to progress onto the next level of study.

Assessment

This course is assessed with practical modules, theory units, online exams and assignments. At the end of the course you will also be required to complete 2 exams in painting and decorating.
Your personal tutor will prepare and support you for all assessments and online exams.

Progression

Progression to a Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating or employment. This course provides a good foundation for future career opportunities or progression to a more advanced work-related qualification such as an apprenticeship.
