Course Overview

The aim of this qualification is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals who can meet the needs of employers in the construction sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. You will develop knowledge of construction and building services engineering linked to practical skills acquired through research, directed study, independent study and workplace scenarios.

Course Requirements

All applications will be considered individual merit, usually based on 64 UCAS points comprising either:

GCA A level
Level 3 vocational qualification in a relevant subject.
Access to Higher Education Diploma in a relevant area.

Successful applicants should have 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English.

Mature students with relevant work experience and/or professional qualifications are welcome to apply and may be invited to an interview.

What you will Learn

On this specialist pathway, you will acquire knowledge and develop understanding of boiler installation, heating system installation, pipe sizing and maintenance of heating systems. You will learn the principles of heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Recent developments in heat pumps and recycling energy, requires students to develop a broader understanding of the environment and the implications for the sector.

Assessment

You will be assessed using a range of methods including written assignments, reports, presentations and undertake practical activity.

Progression

Students can continue their studies with us and progress to a level 5 HND Building Services Engineering (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, and following this may be eligible to complete a one year top-up degree at Level 6.

You may enter or continue in employment, in roles such as: Heating and Ventilation Engineer, Electrician, Plumber, Building Surveyor, Building Services Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer
