You will be taught the basics of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. It will teach you essential skills of critical thinking and an understanding of the world around us.

Assessment

Examinations which take place in June. There are two exams for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. A total of six exams.

Progression

Once you have completed this course you will be able to move on to Higher Education or an Access course.

Career Options

Completing a GCSE combined science course opens up various career options, as it provides a broad foundation in science disciplines. While specific career paths may require further education or specialised qualifications, here are some general career options available to individuals with a GCSE combined science background:

Further Education in Science:
A-levels or equivalent qualifications in biology, chemistry, physics, or mathematics can be pursued, leading to more specialised science degrees at the university level.

Healthcare Professions:
Nursing, paramedic training, or healthcare assistant roles often require a solid science background. Consider pursuing additional qualifications or training specific to the healthcare field.

Laboratory Technician:
Work as a laboratory assistant or technician in various scientific settings, assisting scientists and researchers in conducting experiments and analyses.

Environmental Science:
Careers in environmental science, ecology, or conservation may be available, focusing on issues such as climate change, biodiversity, and sustainability.

Pharmaceutical Industry:
Entry-level roles in pharmaceutical companies, where you can work in areas such as quality control, manufacturing, or research and development.

Science Communication:
Pursue a career in science journalism, science writing, or science education, helping to communicate scientific concepts to the public or students.

Information Technology (IT) and Data Analysis:
Develop skills in data analysis, statistics, and programming to work in scientific computing or data analysis roles, which are increasingly important in various scientific fields.

Forensic Science:
Consider a career in forensic science, where you could work in crime scene investigation, forensic analysis, or as a laboratory technician.

Biotechnology and Bioinformatics:
Explore opportunities in biotechnology companies or bioinformatics, where you can apply biological knowledge to analyse and interpret biological data.

Apprenticeships:
Look for apprenticeships in various industries, such as engineering, manufacturing, or healthcare, where you can gain practical experience while continuing your education.

Remember that this list is not exhaustive, and the specific path you choose will depend on your interests, strengths, and further educational choices. It’s advisable to seek guidance from career counsellors or educators to explore the best options based on your individual goals and preferences.
