Course Overview

On this course you will learn a range of skills to help you become a performer on stage or screen. You will gain a range of professional techniques in dance, singing, physical theatre, acting, communication, confidence and business that is required for performance related roles within industry. Throughout this course you will participate in master-classes, enrichment, competitions, internal and external productions in professional venues and tours. You will be given the opportunity to gain valuable work experience within industry.

4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above (including maths and/or English Language).

What you will Learn

You will have the opportunity to receive specialist professional training in dancing, singing and acting. Training under current industry performers who’s credits include reknowned names and shows such as Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Dirty Dancing, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Cats, Les Miserables, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory and Matilda, to name just a few with students receiving knowledge and teaching from the industry first hand. All of our teachers are highly qualified and experienced performers, making the training offered exciting, fresh and current.
Throughout training, in addition to unit classes, we provide hours of enrichment and workshops and the opportunity to perform on TV, stage and live events, which in itself is valuable training most other colleges do not provide.
Within the Performing Arts industry teamwork is key and you will also have the opportunity to develop confidence, problem solving, critical thinking and independent enquiry skills.

Assessment

Although the course is mainly practical, you will also work on research projects based on companies and organisations within the Performing Arts Industry. Assessment is continuous throughout the course. You will build a portfolio and repertoire of skills for assessment and evidence will be in the form of recordings of practical work, log books, evaluations and essays.

Progression

You will complete the National Foundation Diploma course in your first year, and you can then progress on to our Extended Diploma qualification in your second year, in the same subject.This will help you to attain the optional units required to attain the full 3 A level equivalent qualification in your chosen subject. The course is intended as a preparation for Employment in the Arts Industry or as a step towards Higher Education. We have had great success with current and previous students who have worked for the following: Hilton Hotel Star Ball Production, Hollyoaks and Disney TV, Brighthouse Commercial, Redcon 1 Film, Adam Gillan in Benidorm and West End-National Theatre, Bafta award winner Daniel Rigby, Jordan Asil in the Fall and Dean Fagan in Coronation Street.
