Course Overview

The Make-Up industry is very competitive and creative! You have to bring passion and commitment to this industry to be successful. It allows you to really bring out your confidence and creative skills wherever you decide to work. The industry now requires you to be able to perform hair services as well as make-up. So we have designed a course that is relevant to what the industry experts are wanting!

This qualification has been specifically designed to give you the skills necessary to be successful within the industry as either a freelance makeup artist, or give you the opportunity to work for a makeup counter.

You will learn everything you need to know regarding health and safety, client care, customer service skills and a range of practical elements.
You will take a deep dive into typical makeup looks to include: day, evening and a range of special occasion looks i.e. bridal, alongside the corresponding hairstyles.

The qualification also gives you the opportunity to unleash your creativity, with units containing body art design, competition work and period makeup.

Course Requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above (including English Language and/or maths).

What you will Learn

This course will enable you to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up to the general public and to gain employment in the Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up Industry.

There are opportunities for a Hair, Photographic and Media Make-up Artists to find employment within retail, a freelance basis or within a salon/studio.

Assessment

As part of this qualification you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format.
Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:
Observed work
Witness statements
Audio-visual media
Evidence of prior learning or attainment
Oral questions
Assignments
Case studies.
The qualification also has a number of written assignments and online exams.
