Course Overview

If you want a career in Laboratory Science, then this this is your opportunity to enrol on this new generation of qualifications that offer an attractive, technical alternative to studying three different A Levels. This exciting two-year course has been designed with employers to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to work within the science sector.

The T Level has a mixture of technical knowledge and industry work placement to provide you with the skills and experience you need to start your science career. This is a great opportunity for you to work alongside professionals, become part of a team and develop your skills to put the theory you learn into practice.

Course Requirements

Grade 5 in GCSE maths and Science plus 3 GCSE’s at Grade 4 (including English Language).

What you will Learn

These Level 3 technical qualifications provide learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training or study in the health and science sector. The core knowledge and understanding are assessed through an examination and core skills through a practical employer-set project. In addition to this, maths, English, and general digital skills will be integrated within the qualification in occupationally relevant contexts.

Assessment

Learners are assessed using a combination of external exams, coursework style assignments and an employer based project.

1. Paper A written examination
2. Paper B written examination
3. Employer-set project

Occupational specialism component
1. Synoptic assignments

Progression

After successfully completing this course you will be able to progress onto an undergraduate degree course in forensic science, biology, chemistry or similar. You may also choose to progress to a higher level Apprenticeship, or go into employment within a laboratory setting.

Career Options

The skills developed in this qualification can lead to employment in companies across a wide range of sectors, or self-employment if looking to start your own business.
