Course Overview

Experience, explore and enhance your creative textiles skills. This is a relaxed, informative and fun course for beginners that will develop your practical skills in stitch, print and fabric dyeing. You will learn skills in hand and machine embroidery, including working with dissolvable fabric and machinery such as domestic sewing machines and over lockers. You will be introduced to knitting and weaving, various forms of felt making and printmaking skills such as block printing and silk screen printing. This course will provide you with the opportunity to explore your textile awareness, develop your knowledge, build your technical ability and experiment with all things fabric.

Course Requirements

Participants are not required to possess any previous knowledge or expertise. We welcome individuals with a genuine enthusiasm for the subject and a willingness to actively engage and contribute.

What you will Learn

This course will allow you to develop your practical skills and provide you with the technical ability to take on future textile craft projects.You will produce a series of samples of various techniques which can be mounted in a portfolio for future study or employment. This course allows you to learn the processes and gives you the opportunity to combine techniques through the creation of a ‘final piece’ of your choice.

Assessment

There is no formal qualification for this course it is a chance to learn new techniques.

This taster course can lead to further study on courses relevant to Art and Design, Fashion and Textiles, Surface Pattern and Textiles Craft.
