Course Overview

Explore the world of Art and Design and study materials, methods and processes of an artist or designer.

By completing this UAL approved qualification you will gain technical and theoretical skills in:
– Drawing
– Printmakring
– Painting
– Graphics
– Photography
– 3D

With more emphasis on art and design history, art experimentation and how to train and work in the industry, this course will help you start your creative journey.

This course takes place within our œ23 million redevelopment the Art and Design and Media Building, with state of the art facilities.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 3 or above (including English Language).

What you will Learn

This course will help you to develop a range of different artistic skills, which will help you decide which direction you would like to consider as a future career.

From this course, you will be able to progress onto a number of different Creative Industry qualifications at Level 3 – subject to entry requirements.

Industry Standard Facilities include:

Creative Media suites equipped with latest Mac technology and industry software
Photography studios and dark room
TV studio with green screen, cameras, and lighting
Ceramic and 3D studios
Garment construction fashion and textiles
Print room – screen printing, exposure bed, lazer cutting and risograph
Art studios and exhibition area


Units 1 – 8 of the Diploma in Art & Design will be internally assessed and internally moderated against the assessment criteria for those units.


After successful completion of this course you can progress to UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design or other Creative qualifications at Level 3.
