Career Options

After completing the short course Introduction to Health Professionals, individuals can explore various opportunities to process onto higher level studies within the health and care field and related areas. Some potential career paths include:

Nursing: Graduates may pursue roles as adult nurses, children’s nurses, mental health nurses, learning disability nurses or within related professions such as Operating Department Practitioners.

Midwifery: Midwifery is a global profession that’s been around for thousands of years. After completing degree-level studies, you’ll be caring for individuals and their families before, during, and after the birth of their child, and ensuring the health and wellbeing of both.

Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy is a science-based profession and takes a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing, which includes the patient’s general lifestyle. At the core is the patient’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment
Paramedic: Paramedics are healthcare professionals who have a role that crosses healthcare, public health, social care and public safety. Most well-known for working within Ambulance Services providing immediate and emergency care in response to 999 calls made by the public, paramedics now also work in other areas of healthcare, for example GP practices, hospital emergency departments and police custody suites

While a short course may provide foundational knowledge, pursuing further education or gaining practical experience through internships and entry-level positions can enhance career prospects in these fields. Additionally, networking and staying informed about current trends and issues in the healthcare sector can contribute to career advancement.
