The role of the QAA is to safeguard quality and standards in UK universities and colleges, so that students have the best possible learning experience. They offer advice, guidance and support to help UK universities, colleges and other institutions provide the best possible student experience of higher education. They conduct reviews of institutions, their peer reviewers having recent experience of providing or assessing higher education.

Higher Education provision at the University Centre Stockport, was reviewed in June 2018 under the Group identity Trafford College Group.
