With a range of units written to inspire and support your journey into art, design and media, this course introduces you to the skills needed to succeed. In art sessions you'll be introduced to drawing techniques, photography, graphics, mixed media and 3D. In media, you'll learn about how to use equipment to film and edit video products. You'll also learn about further training and employment in the relevant industries.

This course takes place within our œ23 million redevelopment the Art and Design and Media Building, with state of the art facilities.

4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above (including English Language).

This course gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of creative skills with a view to progressing to the Level 2 Photography and Graphics, Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media.

You will explore art and design, media and employability on this course.

Although the course is mainly practical, you will also work on research projects based on companies and organisations within the Art and Media Industries. Assessment is continuous throughout the course with all practical work being recorded for marking purposes.

Upon successful completion of the study programme you will be able to apply for Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media. Alongside Maths and English, this will prepare you for study at Level 3.

You will complete units looking at different areas in the creative arts and media sector leading to a final project.
