This course is designed to better your understanding of the principles of building construction, how to install protection barrier to enable the laying of paths, using a variety of methods, install drainage, construct foundations and slabs in concrete. You will develop good health and safety practices, learn how to interpret technical drawings and understand technical jargon- all whilst learning to work with other trades.

4 GCSEs at Grade 2 or above (including English and Mathematics)

You will learn, develop and practise a variety of skills to enable you to build, repair and maintain groundworks

You will be assessed on your practical ability to national standards and your theoretical knowledge will be tested by both paper and online exams.

Successful completion of this qualification will provide you with the knowledge and skills required for either progression into employment or onto an apprenticeship in this area

Obviously, you could be a groundworker, from which you could then specialise in a particular area of mason paviour, driveways or conservatory bases. Also, down the line, you could even become a construction site manager.
