This qualification is designed for individuals looking to take their first steps into the plastering industry. You will develop the essential knowledge, practical skills and industry awareness needed to begin a career in plastering, providing a strong foundation for further training, apprenticeships or employment within the construction sector.

Qualification achieved: Level 2 Extended Technical Occupational Entry in Plastering (Solid Plastering and Dry Lining) (Diploma)

Applicants should have achieved four GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including English and Mathematics. You must also have successfully completed a Level 1 Plastering qualification.

Kick-start your career in the construction industry by developing the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to become a plasterer. This hands-on course will introduce you to the key techniques used in solid plastering, including internal plastering, external rendering and dry lining. You will learn how to create smooth, professional finishes while building the confidence and industry-standard skills employers are looking for.

Assessment is carried out through a combination of knowledge and practical assessments. You will complete an end-of-unit multiple-choice test to demonstrate your understanding of key plastering principles, materials and techniques. You will also undertake a final practical assessment, where you will demonstrate your ability to carry out internal plastering, external rendering and dry lining operations to industry standards.

Successful completion of this qualification can lead to further study in specialist areas of plastering, such as fibrous plastering, or progression onto a plastering apprenticeship. Students may also move into employment within the construction industry, developing their skills and experience while working towards advanced qualifications and specialist roles within the trade.

Successful completion of this qualification can open the door to a range of careers within the construction industry. Students may progress into roles such as Plasterer, Dry Lining Operative, Fitted Interiors Operative, or work within the building supplies and merchants sector. The skills and knowledge gained can also provide opportunities in other related construction trades, supporting long-term career development within this growing industry.
