Cheadle College’s Progression students have shown exceptional dedication and community spirit by raising more than £120 for Stockport and District Mind, a local mental health charity.

The students organised a bake sale and took to the Cheadle campus to sell their delicious treats, with all proceeds going toward supporting mental health services in the area.

The event was a huge success, with the bake sale not only showcasing the students’ creativity but also developing their confidence and communication skills. Students toured the Cheadle campus, engaging with fellow students and staff, all while raising awareness about the importance of mental health support.

Lead fundraiser, Seb Powell, said, “I worked really hard for this event and I’m glad that we raised money for a mental health charity. It’s a brilliant feeling.”

Progression student Gabriella Thompson added, “I supported the fundraising by visiting various classes around college and collected money. It’s a good cause and I’m proud to be making difference. I also developed skills such as confidence.”

Louise Gresty, Stockport and District Mind Fundraising and Communications Manager was delighted with the fundraising efforts. Louise commented, “To have young people engaged, raising awareness and opening conversations around mental health is fantastic. The fact that they have thought of us, as a local charity entirely reliant on raising our own funds, rather than a national charity, means the world to us and means all the money goes back into supporting those in the local community.”
