We spoke to Learning Facilitator Steve about the invaluable role he plays here at Stockport College, and his journey towards becoming a member of the team.
Hi, my name is Steve!
I started working at Stockport College as an Learning Facilitator in September, after attending the relevant course offered to me by my work coach at Universal Credit.
Previously I was an electrician for over 25 years, a high-pressure environment that took its toll both physically and mentally.
I was extremely nervous when I first entered the classroom but very soon found my feet.
For the first time in my life, I have a job that I love and a place I feel I belong. I work with some wonderful people, and I feel I’m an integral part of a rapidly strengthening team.
The main positive I get from my role is watching the realisation and joy on the learner’s face when they understand my explanation.
